Bonjour, mes amis! I am flying out to Paris tomorrow for a long weekend away, and thought I would share with you my travel essentials to take on the plane.
Because the flight is so short (1 hour 30 minutes from Manchester), I don’t feel the need to carry or need much with me during the flight. I’m happy to put most of my things in the main luggage as chances are, I will be catching up on my sleep! So, without further ado, here is my list of carry-on essentials that are ideal for short haul flights that take around 4 hours or less…
Over the years of travelling, I have learnt to pack minimally and as lightly as possible. Generally, I like to pack my makeup must-haves in my carry on and leave the full sized items in my main luggage. When packing any liquid products be mindful that each item doesn’t exceed the 100ml rule and to speed up the dreaded security checks, I always consolidate them into a clear plastic bag before going to the airport as you’ll have more time to organise your things carefully, instead of rushing and cramming things into bags or even worse, being told to throw them away!
My List: Blush/Bronzer, Waterproof liquid eyeliner, Concealer, lipstick, lip balm, hair bobble, hydrating face-mist spray, toothbrush and toothpaste, small packet of tissues, mini face wipes, hand sanitiser, sunscreen, roll-on deodarant, handcream, travel size perfume, sunglasses (definitely an essential, to hide panda-eyes and tiredness from waking up at crack of dawn!)
Generally when I am on long haul flights, I just watch the movies that are on the on-flight entertainment system as they are fairly new releases. For anyone who is a nervous flyer or traveller, I think a good film can help put your mind at ease – maybe go for comedy and not thriller/action-types where planes are involved and disaster strikes…(!)
On this occasion, because the flight is so short I think I’ll only have time for a cup of herbal tea and we’ll be landing!
Some would say that their beloved tech necessities are the most important essentials and helps get them through both short and long haul flights. A good book or your favourite playlist can drown out the sea of snoring passengers and rowdy pre-party holidaymakers during the flight. I don’t know if this is just me but when I read a book on the plane, I HAVE to listen to music whether I like it or not, otherwise I start to feel sick and nauseous. For those of you who get travel sickness, a tip from my Mum is to drink ginger tea or have some ginger biscuits (or even ginger sweets!). I don’t actually know how or why it works but I’ll take the biscuits anyway 🙂
My List: Headphones, mobile phone and battery pack, book, magazines, iPad, notebook, pens, sweets or snacks.
So that is my mini-list which doesn’t include everything if I was to go on a long haul flight, but it pretty much covers what I need for this trip and for the transfer to the hotel afterwards. I will be doing a post-trip blog when I get back so feel free to tick the “Follow blog” box down in the comments below where you’ll be notified of my new posts 🙂
Hope you all have a great Bank Holiday weekend everyone! Love Heather x
