Give Me Some Lip! – Sephora Favourites

Give Me Some Lip! – Sephora Favourites

Hi guys! I just got back from NYC and whilst over there, like a beauty-junkie, I couldn’t resist going into Sephora and this cute box of lip sampler kit caught my eye. It was $28 (around £21) – an absolute bargain considering you get six samples with two of them being full sized. I needn’t think twice about getting them!

I adore how this kit includes everything, from giving you trendy matte lips, to treatment balms and lip tints. It’s quite possibly THE essential kit to give you luscious lips. Also, they are the perfect size to pop into the tiniest of handbags. The colours are mainly a pink/brown-nudes, suitable for everyday look, work, school and college.

1. Too Faced Cosmetics – Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Chihuahua

I was a bit worried about the different applicator as I’m used to the ones without a sponge-tip, but this actually made it so much easier to apply and  I can control the amount that goes on. The shade is a rich pink-mauve which will go with a natural everyday look, or in the evening with smokey-eyes. The texture is creamy and my lips feel soft and moisturised with a tiny hint of gloss. Although the colour is beautiful, I wouldn’t say it’s very long-lasting as it claims to be, as some of it transferred onto the cups and food I had. If you’re happy to re-apply throughout the day then this product is still a thumbs up from me!

2. Kat Von D – Studded Lipstick in Lovecraft

I love how cute and tiny this is, yet it’s badass with the cool and unique packaging! It kind of brings out the inner rock-chick within me every time I use it. It’s comfortable to wear and gives a nice semi-matte finish. I really like the colour, a bold mauve-nude which is perfect for an everyday look. If you also like the smell Crème Brûlée then this is for you!

3. Smashbox – Always On Liquid Lipstick in Stepping Out

This is probably the best liquid lipstick I have tried so far. It’s a gorgeous shade, a deep nude, and I love that it stays true to the colour that you see in the tube. The applicator has a special sponge tip so it’s super easy to apply. It dries fast, leaves your lips soft and velvety and doesn’t crack to make you look like you’re lips are splitting. It’s definitely long-lasting and water-proof, basically budge-proof! I had to use about half a bottle of Micellar Water to remove this, so be warned. Apart from that,  I’m so impressed I think I will check out other the colours in the range.

4. NARS – Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien

I love NARS lip pencils and already own a couple from another range. This is my first from the Satin range and it’s very moisturising, leaving the lips nice and soft. I didn’t find it as pigmented as I thought for a bold look, but this may be due to my nature lip colour being slightly dark. It’s a rosy-mauve shade so my lips look very natural. To me, it’s more like a tinted lip balm as opposed to a lip pencil so I will most likely pair this up with a different coloured lipstick. The colour lasts well and gives a nice sheen. I like that it’s a jumbo pencil so you can have precise application, but I feel that sharpening it will waste some of the product. I think I would like this more if it was in a brighter shade.

5. FRESH – Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment

This claims to be a best-selling lip treatment in which it moisturises, protects and smooths the lips. After using it for a few days I like how hydrating this is, but it’s no different to my other hydrating lip balms that I currently have (!) It does contain SPF 15 giving protection from UV rays, but other than that I feel that drugstore lip balms are just as good for a fraction of the price. It’s nice but I don’t think I will re-purchase this in full size.

6. Lancôme – Juicy Shaker 313 in Boom – Meringue

I was really excited to try this out as I’m a big fan of Lancome, and I was not disappointed! This is a bi-phase lip oil that has nourishing oils to keep your lips looking luscious and super hydrated. You give the bottle a shake before applying it with the sponge applicator, and it just glides on like a dream. I don’t usually wear lip glosses as I don’t like the sticky or gloopy feeling but this feels amazing and light. Although the colour in the bottle is bright pink, the colour is very sheer and subtle when you put it on – great if you are looking for something with very little or no color. Very highly recommended!

From Top Left Clockwise: Too Faced (Chihuahua); Kat Von D (Lovecraft); NARS (Rikugien; Lancome (Boom Meringue); FRESH (Sugar Rose); Smashbox (Stepping Out)

Overall, I think these lip products are great and I’m super happy I got to try them as a whole because I don’t think I would have bought most of them individually. As for my favourite I’m torn between two: I love Stepping Out by Smashbox and Boom-Meringue by Lancôme. It’s fair to say that I’ve chosen my favourite liquid lipstick and my favourite lip treatment.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and found it useful! I’d love to hear which one in this blog is your favourite. My next post will be about my trip in NYC so keep your eyes peeled!

Love Heather x
