It is that time of year for one of the greatest eastern holidays, celebrated on the first day of the First Moon of the Lunar calendar. Of all the traditional Chinese festivals, Chinese New Year is the most colourful, elaborate and most important. Celebrating on having passed through another year, a time to clear out the old and to welcome in the new year will see plenty of dinner gatherings and lai-see (lucky money wrapped in small red envelopes). I am extremely lucky to be celebrating this year in Hong Kong with family and friends.
This year on 28th January 2017 will mark the Year of the Rooster, with significant colours that match Chinese culture – red (to signify good fortune and joy) and gold – (to represent luck). These colours are seen everywhere around this time to summon prosperity for the next twelve months ahead. Beyond hanging lanterns and receiving (or giving) little red envelopes, the festivities can be incorporated into beauty routines and fashion.
I have listed my top 15 beauty products and fashion items worth celebrating. Ranging from the richly pigmented lipstick to Michael Kors, it’ll leave you feeling as confident and being centre of attention as the Zodiac’s animal quality.
